Family
owned and operated for 53 years
Tucson and Green Valley
Casa Blanca Exxon
was founded by Rex & Lenora McKenzie, parents of Cheryl McKenzie Cox.
Rex started in the service station business on Tucson's south side in
1956.
Bill Cox was right
out of high school when he started working for Rex. Shortly after Bill
& Cheryl's marriage in 1962,
Rex and Lenora purchased a second Exxon station - Casa Blanca Exxon at
Oracle and Rudasil. Bill operated the south side location and Rex and
Lenora moved to the north side location. The south side locations was
sold in 1968 when Bill left to pursue another career in the tire business.
In 1977 Rex McKenzie
suffered a stroke and Bill Cox returned to help with the business. Within
five years, Bill had increased the business to numbers that persuaded
Exxon, USA to rebuild the Casa Blanca site. Exxon also encouraged him
to purchase a second site in Green Valley. This being Green Valley Exxon,
established in December 1984.
Coxco's growth from
this point is attributed to many years of hard work, long hours, and dedication
by every member of the family. Corey Cox, son and DeVon Bronson, daughter,
started in the business during their high school and college years, doing
everything and anything that had to be done. Joe Picchioni, nephew in
law, started training at Casa Blanca Exxon in June 1984 and moved to manage
the first Green Valley location (Esperanza Exxon) when it opened in December
1984. Louisa Cox, daughter-in-law, started with the company at Casa Blanca
Exxon in February 987 prior to her marriage to Corey. Scott Bronson, Son-in-law,
started at a C-store location in February 1990. He moved to the Super
Center location when it opened in August 1991 and has been building the
Coxco C-mart business ever since.
This family business
has developed and grown year by year to become the COXCO of today. Bill
and Cheryl attribute this growth to one thing....The total involvement
of the entire family over the years to do whatever it takes "to get
the job done right".
Coxco today consists
of 3 locations that include Premimum Gasoline, Convenience Stores and now Dairy Queen at our Casa Blanca store . The "mom & pop" service
station of yesterday has become Coxco Corporation of today with that same "mom
& pop" feel. |
